In General
St. Peter's churchmanship is in the middle ground of Anglican worship. There are three services on most Sundays and one on Wednesday with slight variations in style so as to cater for the needs of all people in the parish. Parishioners are happy to have this variety. All the major festivals are, of course, celebrated at St Peter’s. Christmas is preceded by the Christingle service; for the past two years there was also a special Advent service "Looking Forward to Christmas", with contributions by several groups. Christmastide includes "Carols for All", complete with brass band, as well as the traditional Midnight Communion and the Joyful Christmas Eucharist in the morning.
Music
St Peter's currently has a thirteen-strong, four-part, robed choir under the direction of the music leader. They help to lead the worship at five or six services per month, including two evening services. They rehearse one evening per week and the high, regular attendance reflects the members' commitment and dedication. The choir's repertoire of anthems is quite extensive as befits a group of experienced and able choristers, the majority of whom hold Bishop's Awards (for either long service or merit). Of course, they lead the singing of hymns, songs, psalms and canticles and service settings used in our Sunday worship, and St Peter's counts itself fortunate to have retained this choir and, with it, the choral tradition of an Anglican village parish Church.
The Music Group is a small but enthusiastic group of musicians who contribute to 9.45 am services once or twice a month and on special occasions. They play a fairly wide range of music and are always happy to expand the repertoire.
